Jennifers Weekly Update 09-24-2011

NEW LEADER HELPFUL TIP:  I have attached a new leader checklist for you.  If you have any questions, please contact me or anyone on our Service Team.  We will help you through it.

9/27 is our next Service Unit Meeting at the First Presbyterian Church starting promptly at 7:00pm. The agenda is attached for you.  Please print and bring with you.  The Leader Monthly Form is attached for you.  If anyone has any questions, please let me know.  They are due at the SU meeting.  I will not accept late forms this year.  Fall product sale training will be conducted for a portion of this meeting. Nicole Held is going to provide childcare again for us! If you need to utilize her please let me know by 9/25. I expect a few last minute notices, but I want to give her an idea of how many and what ages.

ADULT TRAINING AND OPPORTUNITIES:  Cheryl Curry and Salli Williams will be conducting GSCI Introduction Training on Wed 9/28 at the Girl Scout House @ 6:30.  If you have a training card, please bring it with you.  On 10/11 starting at 6pm location tbd in Greenfield there will be Leadership Essentials Training (6pm) and Journeys Plus Training (7:30pm).  We do have to have so many attend to do this.  Please let me know by our Tuesday meeting if you can attend.  I'm trying to make this easier for you so you don't have to travel somewhere else to complete these.  Also see attached flyer on GSCI Odyssey.  This is at Camp Ada not very far away from us.  If you have questions or need to register, please contact Kathi Coutihno.  Her e-mail is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. REGISTRATION INFO FROM MELINDA: If you picked up your registration packet for Early Bird, but didn't register then, your girl/adult preprinted forms are in that packet. Melinda has your troop packet if you didn't pick up at Early Bird. All troop registration materials must be turned into Melinda by Sept 30. Fall Packets will be ready to pick up at the Service Unit meeting, or you can pick them up at my house after contacting Melinda. You need JavaScript enabled to view it    If you have your registration turned into Melinda by or before the start of our SU mtg on 9/27, you will receive a ticket for the door prize drawing.  If you also have entered it into e-council, you will receive an additional ticket for the door prize drawing.  If you need help in any way at all, please contact Melinda.

FALL PRODUCT SALE:  As you have read, training for Fall Product Sale will be conducted at our SU meeting this month.  Each troop that does $100 worth of sales earns our SU $10.  Last year from these proceeds we were able to pay for the Camp Ada fee for Daisy/Brownie Fun Day and the Camp Dellwoods for our August Camporee.  Please remember this is an individual girl choice and not a leader choice.  If any program assistance grants are applied for, this is something they look at to see if there was participation in the Fall Product Sale among other areas.  Christmas is coming up, and  magazines and/or candy do make great gifts (not to mention you don't have to fight the shopping crowds) for Christmas or any other special occasions throughout the year.

GIRL SCOUT HOUSE:  So, I got to get up on a ladder changing light bulbs, checking smoke detectors, replacing batteries in clocks, hanging curtains and measuring.  There is 1 light bulb left to change in the living room downstairs to replace yet.  If you need to make copies, bring your paper.  We are currently out right now.  In the senior room upstairs, there is a remote to the fan.  The light switch must be on for the remote to work.  The remote is above the light switch.  If you and your girls/families can help in any way at all or notice something not working, please contact Rita Trinkle at 462-9178.  You'll see more changes very soon.  Thank you to all that have worked hard so far!  If you need to schedule the Scout House, please contact Jodie Deal.  Her e-mail is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Thanks for all you do!

Jennifer
