First Camping Trip Success!Posted in Pull Up a Chair on September 20, 2011 by Administrator This weekend Brownie Troop 1974 went on their first outdoor camping trip. We were invited to the Warren Service Unit Camperee at Dellwood. The girls learned about American History – the Underground Railroad – and were even captured by bounty hunters. They met other Brownie Girl Scouts and Junior Girl Scouts in our unit (my favorite – Pinewood). We had one Mom spider catcher who was able to remove all spiders before they went to bed - the only fear they showed. Best of all, not one asked to go home and not one cried for their mom! I was so very proud of them. So don't forget to start planning your Brownie Camping trip. The program center at Dellwood has been revamped and has kitchenettes in each of the sleep rooms. Ada is a great camp for a Winter overnight. Planning the YearPosted in Beautiful Brownies on July 08, 2011 by Administrator
Every summer I take a break from Girl Scouts, it helps me renew and recharge for the next year, but I do start to plan the next year. However this summer, we know there are changes coming and they are MAJOR but the new books and program information will not be released until the Fall, possibly October. This puts a little crimp into summer planning. |
The 2011-2012 Girl Scout year will be my 7th year as a Brownie Leader. I never thought I would lead three troops through Brownies, but here I am and looking forward to a new year and a little apprehensive about the new program. Oh how I wish I had my old notes and program plans or at least organized so that I can use them again.
